High-speed cable ( Direct Attach Cable , referred to as DAC) is a kind of cable assembly purchased in a fixed length with fixed connectors at both ends, used for interconnection between short-distance devices. The connectors used for the high-speed cable are the same as optical modules. However, compared with optical modules, the connector modules of high-speed cables do not have expensive optical lasers and other electronic components, thus greatly saving costs and power consumption in short-distance applications.
